National Security Research, Analysis, and Training

CENTRA has been providing innovative analytical and outreach services to the national security community for over two decades. Our personnel have extensive experience researching, writing, and briefing analyses and reports on issues of importance to today's world, such as the implications of regional terrorism trends for US homeland security, or the impact of technology advances on US military capabilities. We specialize in employing creative methodologies and approaches to understanding complex economic, political, regional, and homeland security trends and issues.

CENTRA analysts have researched and written hundreds of reports for our clients, ranging from strategic issue analyses to lengthy assessments of emerging technology and regional security developments. We conduct extensive open source research and analysis projects, as well as working with proprietary and Government data sources. To complement our staff's capabilities, we work with experts from almost all industry sectors, including academics, scientists and engineers, authors, business executives, former ambassadors, former military and government officials, and experts from foreign institutions. CENTRA's network of experts includes over 2,000 exceptionally qualified individuals, each available to provide analytic support, conduct studies, and participate in events that CENTRA organizes for its customers. CENTRA tasks its pool of experts to complete a wide range of analytic projects, including conducting independent studies, writing short papers and "think pieces," and preparing formal presentations on cutting-edge topics of concern to CENTRA customers.

CENTRA staff offer training in analysis methods, information and operations and have experience teaching at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and at many client facilities. We offer training in intelligence analysis and tradecraft, as well as in homeland security analysis and open source information sharing and collection. CENTRA organizes meetings between single experts and small groups of US Government personnel and arranges for experts to give formal presentations or training seminars to large groups of US Government personnel.

CENTRA also consults on management issues. Our senior staff has managed offices and large programs within the government and has expertise in shaping products and services produced by those programs. We have experience assembling the pieces of complex analytic programs in ways that capture synergies and lend coherence to overall program efforts. CENTRA has supported strategic planning by the Department of Homeland Security, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. We have developed analytic tradecraft that takes the long view of national security affairs, drawing on methods originally developed within the private sector and applying these approaches for both our private-sector and government clients.
