Security Risk Management

In the post-9/11 world, risk analysis and risk management have become essential tools in protecting the nation's population, assets, infrastructures, and businesses from terrorists, foreign adversaries, criminals, and natural disasters. Increasingly, "risk" is the preferred measure relied upon by decision makers to understand, prioritize, and fund protection and preparedness programs. With the evolution of risk management into a core business process in Homeland Security, those involved in protecting the nation, and their own assets, must master and employ the principles of risk management and develop the capability to perform more analytically rigorous and interdisciplinary all-hazard risk analyses.

CENTRA offers specialized expertise across the broad spectrum of risk management disciplines. CENTRA employs highly skilled methodologists, who have been leaders in security risk analysis since its formation, experienced risk analysts and site assessors, risk analysis trainers, and program managers who share their expertise and develop the capabilities of others. CENTRA's cadre of risk management experts is uniquely qualified to ensure the success of its clients.

CENTRA provides a broad range of risk-based protective services, including:

  • Risk Methodology Development and Customization

  • Consequence, Threat, and Vulnerability Analysis

CENTRA employs professionals who have been leaders in the creation and use of some of the most successful risk analysis methodologies and who develop risk-based reports for US Government, State, and private-sector clients. Drawing on the experience earned with a long string of successful projects, CENTRA brings unparalleled knowledge to each client's needs. We help our clients develop and implement successful and efficient risk management and risk analysis programs that are recognized as best practices within the risk management field, consistent with applicable government policies, plans, and initiatives, and flexible enough to be modified to meet the future needs of our clients.

To address financial and political risks for our private sector clients, we use a variety of risk assessment methods. For example, CENTRA conducted an interactive simulation in early 2003 for the Pacific Pension Institute, focusing on the economic and financial aftershocks of the then-upcoming war against Iraq. The linked PDF file contains a report on the conclusions of that exercise, as well as notes describing the mechanics of the simulation.
